Nearly a week after Hurricane Ian obliterated thousands of homes and businesses in Florida, search and rescue crews are still combing through the rubble, while survivors grapple with the toll of the devastation.

More than 1,500 Red Cross volunteers are working around the clock to help people in the aftermath of the storm.

Emergency aid centres are in full swing with people lining up for food and other basic necessities.

At least 106 people are now confirmed dead, while more than 2,000 others have been rescued.

Jackson Proskow looks at the dire situation.
