Hurricane Beryl made its way through the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to reach Texas by late Sunday, bypassing Mexico's Yucatan beaches with minimal impact. After causing devastation in the Caribbean as a Category 5 hurricane, the storm weakened and spared Mexico from casualties.

However, power outages left residents struggling with the heat, prompting concerns about the upcoming hurricane season's potential impact on local businesses.

"We don't have power since 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. until now, and now we can't stand the heat anymore. We went out for a walk because there is no power, and we don't have any signal at home," resident Meryl Zarate said.

The Mexican military stepped in to provide assistance, organizing a soup kitchen in Tulum to distribute food to affected locals.
