Humanity has "opened the gates of hell": Guterres warns UN climate summit

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned a climate summit on Wednesday that as extreme weather events continue to increase, humanity has "opened the gates of hell" and faster action is needed.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also spoke at the summit, and announced about $700 million in additional money for the Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust, which goes towards helping developing countries deal with climate change.

The summit was called with the goal that only leaders who came with concrete actions would get to address their peers, meaning the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, India and China were all unable to do so and in turn, their heads of state skipped it.
