How wealthy Canadians travelled during COVID-19

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Canadians have been advised to avoid non-essential travel outside of the country.

While it’s not against the rules to fly abroad, COVID-19 testing, quarantine measures and reduced capacity on airlines have made travel difficult. But not as much for wealthy Canadians, who have the luxury of travelling by private aircraft.

Flight data over the past year analyzed by Global News shows private jets regularly used by wealthy Canadians have flown frequently in and out of the country. As Redmond Shannon explains, unlike commercial airline passengers, those on private planes may not see the same quarantines.
