With the second wave of coronavirus showing signs of slowing down in some parts of India after claiming several lives, it is now expected that the third wave could be as severe as the second and last for an average duration of 98 days, according to an SBI report.
The only silver lining is that the number of Covid-related deaths can be controlled by increasing vaccinations and improvement of health infrastructure.
The SBI report stressed better preparedness as it can help in dealing with the third wave saying, “the decline in serious case rate (patients that require oxygen, intensive care unit beds, etc) will lead to fewer deaths."
