How the creation of Israel ruined my life | Close Up

We follow Ghassan el-Shouly, a young man living in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, as he prepares to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nakba - the day when 750,000 Palestinians were uprooted from their land and thousands were killed as Israel was created in 1948.

Every year, Ghassan and his family attend an annual march towards the Israeli-Lebanese border - but with the Gaza Strip bombed again recently by Israeli forces, this year’s commemoration presents greater security concerns for Palestinians in Lebanese camps.

Watch as Ghassan breaks from tradition, even as he refuses to give up his dream of returning home.
