German business morale worsened for the second consecutive month in June, mostly on account of weakness in the manufacturing sector. That's according to a survey by the country's renowned IFO institute. Analysts say that it shows that Europe's largest economy faces an uphill battle to shake off recession.
The lack of skilled workers continues to hamper Germany's economic growth, that's according to the state-owned KfW Bank. Four in ten businesses are affected by labor shortages. The bank expects the situation to worsen if the economic recovery gains momentum. Meanwhile, a government body is calling for Germany to hike its minimum wage by 82 cents to12 euros 82 cents by 2025.
And a candidate from the far-right AfD won a district-level election for the first time. Could it have an impact on the local economy?
