Climate change is fueling jihadism in the Sahel region of Africa.

That’s the claim of documentary filmmaker Reza Pakravan who spent nearly four months exploring this area - which stretches across Africa from Senegal to Ethiopia along the southern edge of the Sahara desert and includes troubled countries such as Mali, Chad and Niger - for his new series The World's Most Dangerous Borders.

In this clip, he explains to RT’s Andrew Dickens how jihadist groups like Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and Isis feed on the devastation, conflict and desperation caused by the spread of the Sahara.
