Since the pandemic almost 800,000 people are now "economic inactivity" - a catch-all definition that covers the 9 million people of working age that are not currently able or looking to work.

Unemployment, inactivity and workless households are all above the national average in Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley - but they are not unique.

Sky News' business correspondent has spoken to some of those who can't work, and those whose job it is to help them find back into it.
