In 2017, President Akufo-Addo initiated the 1D1F policy to change the nature of Ghana’s economy from one which is dependent on import and export of raw materials to one which is focused on manufacturing, value addition and export of processed goods.

The government through EXIM bank and other financial institutions gave financial support to some companies to help actualize the policy of government.

But some of the companies have been forced to shut down their operations for lack of cash. They are accusing EXIM bank for reneging on its promise to fully fund them.
In the first part of our hotline documentary, titled ONE DISTRICT SOME FACTORIES, Richard Kwadwo investigates government’s 1D1F policy and examines how such factories are performing.
