In Hong Kong, security has been tightened ahead of a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.
China’s state-controlled media says Xi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the territory’s next chief executive, John Lee.
The event coincides with celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover from Britain to China.
