Hong Kong press freedom 'hanging by a thread' as arrests mount

Hong Kong's largest pro-democracy newspaper has warned the city's press freedom is "hanging by a thread", after five of its executives were arrested under Beijing's national security law.
Police raided Apple Daily's newsroom for the second time in 10 months, accusing it of colluding with what the government calls "foreign enemies" to harm China.
The secretary for security warned journalists not to use their work as tools to break the law.
In a similar raid last August, Apple Daily's founder, media mogul Jimmy Lai, was taken from his office.
He is now serving a string of jail sentences for taking part in unauthorised rallies.
Apple Daily is not the only outlet being targeted.
In April, a producer at the city's public broadcaster RTHK was convicted after making a documentary critical of the police's handling of a mob attack against protesters in 2019.
The government has just dropped charges against a reporter working for a pro-Beijng newspaper.
The Hong Kong Journalists Association has described the current situation as "horrifying".
