Hong Kong independent online news outlet Citizen News has announced it will close on Tuesday, citing a hostile media environment and concerns about the security of its staff.
It is the third media outlet to shut down after last week’s raid and arrests at Stand News, and the forced closure of Apple Daily last year.
Pro-democracy and human rights activists say Beijing has greatly curtailed Hong Kong's press freedoms since a National Security Law was imposed on the territory in June 2020.
But Hong Kong authorities have rejected these accusations.
