Kentucky tornado survivors sifted through what remained of their homes on Sunday after a string of powerful tornadoes that officials have confirmed have killed at least 64 people and obliterated homes and businesses.

In Dawson Springs, in southwestern Kentucky, homes were reduced to piles of rubble.

"It's horrible. It's the definition of hell on Earth," Reed Geary sifted through the rubble of his friend's father's home.

Meanwhile, Mayfield, Kentucky resident Janet Kimp has lost if all before -- a husband, now a home.

"I lost everything again," she told reporters at what was left of her home.

Multiple tornadoes tore through the U.S. Midwest and South on Friday night, killing people in at least five states.
