Record rainfall in September was reported in Varanasi today, 200 mm rain in a matter of 24 hours, 190 mm in Fursatganj and over 110 mm in Lucknow. A rain red alert has been issued for the entire eastern part of UP, more heavy rainfall expected in other areas, including Delhi and Uttarakhand.
