Heart failure is on the rise in Canada and experts say while the condition is one of the most common reasons people 65 and older end up in hospital, many people don't recognize the signs and symptoms.

It's estimated that nearly three-quarters of a million people are living with heart failure across the country, with more than 100,000 people being diagnosed every year. And doctors say while people associate poor heart health with a sudden event, often symptoms develop gradually.
