Sport has a wonderful ability to unify us. During the two weeks of Olympics coverage, many of us were yelling at the tv at some point - suddenly experts of the ominium, pentathlon or uneven bars.

But behind the glory of gold, and sometimes the despair of losing - are athletic, almost-superhuman, but also vulnerable people.

Mental health and the pressure to perform has been firmly on the podium at this year's games in a way which athletes hope will bring about real change.
