"Extinction Rebellion" climate protesters held a Halloween-themed protest in Paris on Sunday, one of several protests held in different cities in Europe, as activists called for faster action on climate change by leaders attending the COP26 summit in Scotland.

Greenpeace executive director Jennifer Morgan went one step further, calling on all COP26 countries to pledge to halve global emissions by 2030, not 2050 and stick to a target of capping global warming at 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels. While in Italy, Pope Francis urged leaders to listen to the "cry of the earth and the cry of the poor."

At the start of the summit in Glasgow on Oct. 31, COP26 President Alok Sharma said the climate light is "flashing red" and called on delegates to deliver on the promises made at the COP in Paris in 2015.
