Hundreds of people have been evacuated from three nursing homes as fires continued to spread to Menidi, Greece on Wednesday. Firefighters and helicopters have been battling the wildfires constantly in the area in recent days.

These fires increased due to intense heat and strong winds claiming 18 lives and destroying many homes and vehicles. Greek authorities have warned that new blazes could occur during the week as the country struggles with a heatwave.

Hundreds of people have evacuated their homes across the country since fires erupted in northern Greece on Saturday, fanned by high winds in the summer's second major outbreak.
