On Monday, an eight-member bench of the Supreme Court continue to hear petitions filed under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, challenging the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023. This bill aims to limit the suo motu powers of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the constitution of benches. The bench, which includes Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and several other justices, will convene at 12:30 pm. The petitions were filed by Advocate Muhammad Shafay Munir, Raja Amer Khan, Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain, and others. Article 184(3) of the Constitution empowers the Supreme Court to assume jurisdiction in matters related to the enforcement of fundamental rights of Pakistan's citizens.
