Global warming "likely" to breach 1.5°C threshold within 5 years: UN

There's a 66 per cent chance Earth will break the crucial 1.5°C increase in global temperatures within five years, according to the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations.

The 2015 Paris climate agreement set 1.5°C as an international threshold. While that may not seem like a lot, scientists say such a spike will prompt the worst impact of climate change.
