We’re marking a very special milestone at Global News this week as the station marks 50 years on the air on Saturday.
Global News was the brainchild of the Canadian broadcasting pioneer Al Bruner. His idea was to launch a station that produced original Canadian shows and build a newsroom that strived for integrity and innovation.
Canadian Peter Trueman became the station’s first news anchor when it launched on Jan. 6, 1974.
Alan Carter reports.
