A definite reminder that Canadians aren't out of winter's grip yet, snow and rain are wreaking havoc on both coasts, as well as Quebec. As Heather Yourex-West explains, forecasters warn the risk of avalanche is highest on B.C.'s south coast, while in Quebec the heavy snow has left many residents in the dark.
A ceremony was held Sunday morning at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to mark the 10th anniversary of the end of Canada's combat mission in Afghanistan. More than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members served during the 13-year mission and 158 of them died in the conflict. As David Akin reports, the combat mission has long been over, but Canada remains very much connected to the troubled country.
A controversial monument at a private cemetery west of Toronto has been removed. The memorial in Oakville, Ont., was dedicated to a division of Ukrainian soldiers who fought in WWII, but with the Nazis' infamous S.S. military unit. As Kayla McLean reports, there were calls to take down the landmark for years.
A recent reversal in Nova Scotia's strategy to address coastal erosion is generating plenty of criticism. Experts project the greatest rates of relative sea-level rise will be along the Atlantic Coast. Some are questioning the provincial government's new approach. Heidi Petracek explains what is at stake.
And maple syrup producers near Fredericton say the year is off to an early start, after low production last year due to bad weather conditions. They're hoping the early start will lead to a better season. Anna Mandin has the story.
