2020 has been a year of loss, fear and darkness for many. But one quality that continued to shine is courage. In "Profiles in Courage" Global's Su-Ling Goh re-introduces us to some of the most inspiring Albertans of the year.
Teenager Ava deGannes celebrated life after cancer treatments by raising funds for the hospital that saved her. Shooting survivor Herman Koo inspired other rehabilitation patients by working hard to walk again — and to accept the new him. And Humboldt Broncos crash survivor Tyler Smith offered words of advice about how he has learned to cope after tragedy.
The pandemic has also inspired bravery. At 81 years old, Bill Maxim was not expected to survive COVID-19, let alone be able to offer encouragement to other patients. And a number of courageous Albertans came forward this year to share their stories of battling COVID-19 or losing loved ones to it – with a goal of preventing pain for others.
We hope this 30-minute show inspires more courage — and gratitude – in 2021.
