'Global Britain' plans foreign aid cuts, as conflict grips the world's poorest

Speculation is growing that the Chancellor will propose a one-off cut to the UK's foreign aid budget, in an effort to help pay down the growing budget deficit.

Ethiopia, currently experiencing ethnic conflict bordering on civil war, is the second biggest recipient of aid from the United Kingdom.

The mooted cut of £4bn is the largest reduction by any country in history.
