The conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell is facing a new challenge as her attorneys say they plan to seek a retrial after a juror revealed he had been sexually abused in the past and had told jurors during deliberations.

The juror, who asked to be identified by his first and middle names, Scotty David, said he revealed his story to his fellow jurors when some expressed skepticism about the accounts of two of Maxwell's accusers. He said sharing his story also helped him convince some jurors that a victim's imperfect memory of sex abuse doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Further complicating the case is a second juror who came forward after the first and revealed they too had been sexually abused and had told jurors during the deliberations.

Law experts say the possible failure of a juror to disclose he was a victim of sexual abuse may not be enough to overturn the verdict, adding cases where verdicts were overturned largely involved jurors who deliberately omitted information to try and get on the jury panel. Sean Previl has more on the developments and the impact it could have on Maxwell's conviction, who faces up to 65 years in prison.
