Elections in Germany's largest state Bavaria are being seen as a test of where Europe's largest economy is heading.
Polls show increasing support for the far-right party the Alternative for Germany (AFD).
Traditionally, the party is stronger in the east of the country.
But with migration dominating this election campaign, the anti-immigration party is gaining support in the west as well.
