The family of George Floyd, attorney Ben Crump and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D - Texas) reacted Saturday to federal civil rights indictments handed up against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, as well as three others connected to the death of Floyd.

A three-count indictment unsealed Friday named Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao. According to one indictment, Chauvin deprived Floyd of the right to be free from "unreasonable seizure, which includes the right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by a police officer." Thao and Kueng were also charged in connection with their failure to intervene in Chauvin's use of unreasonable force, and all four face a charge for failing to give Floyd medical aid.

Floyd's nephew Brandon Williams said they were grateful for the indictments announced, with Rodney Floyd, George's brother, saying they would "keep on fighting for our people, for equality."
