General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing says strikes will put NHS "under pressure"

The Royal College of Nursing has announced an escalation in its strike action.

The walkout will run for a 48 hour period from 6am on March 1.

Pat Cullen, the General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, has said the nursing strike will put the NHS "under more pressure than it is at the minute".

But she told Sky News that industrial action could be called off if the Prime Minister makes a fresh pay offer.
