General election 2024: Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems set out their tax plans

The Conservatives, Labour and the Lib Dems have ruled out VAT hikes if either party wins the election.

Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor, said tax rises on products and services would "hammer families' finances", while shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves said Labour did not plan to raise tax, national insurance or VAT.

The Lib Dems also ruled out an increase.
