Gaza's al-Awda Hospital director reports dire conditions amid siege, staff and patients trapped

Mohamed Salha, the acting director of Al-Awda Hospital, relayed the harrowing situation to Al Jazeera from northern Gaza. He painted a grim picture of the hospital's plight under siege by Israeli forces. Despite the evacuation mandate, Salha and 27 others, including staff and patients, chose to remain. Their decision stemmed from the patients' critical conditions and the absence of alternative medical facilities. Compounding their predicament are acute shortages of water, fuel, and medical supplies, aggravated by relentless bombing and gunfire nearby. Salha implored the international community to exert pressure on Israel to cease targeting the hospital, enabling them to continue delivering vital healthcare services.
