U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Sunday that G7 leaders had agreed to pledge more than one billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to provide to the world's poorest countries.

Johnson said the vaccines would come, depending on the country, either directly or through the COVAX vaccine-sharing initiative. The U.K., he said, would be contributing 100 million vaccines.

Johnson also touched on other aspects of the pandemic leaders spoke about, including being prepared for the future, such as preventing a pandemic from ever happening again by establishing a global pandemic radar to spot new diseases before they spread.
