Future Wars: Could there ever be a conflict between the US and China?

A war between super powers would be devastating.

It would be the type of conflict not seen since the end of the Second World War - and technological advances mean any fight between Great Powers could escalate to widespread destruction the likes of which we have never seen.

For many years it looked like the US and USSR could be on the brink of direct war, but thankfully this never came to pass.

Now, though, the rise of China has led many to fear a war with the US is inevitable - with both countries competing economically, militarily, technologically and for influence. 

So, is a US/China war possible?
