Amid climate urgency, both the Biden administration and Congress advocate for advancing next-gen nuclear plants, particularly small modular reactors (SMRs), touted for affordability and enhanced safety features. Despite enthusiasm, experts warn of inherent risks, emphasizing the industry's vulnerability to mishaps. The future role of nuclear power in the energy transition remains uncertain.
