Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party has picked its new leader.
Fumio Kishida will replace Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.
The former foreign minister took the helm after a runoff with cabinet minister, Taro Kono.
Suga is stepping down after just a year in office.
He has been facing strong criticism over his handling of the pandemic and the cost of the Olympics.
