A new drug has cleared an Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory hurdle that a U.S. biotech startup called Loyal said puts it closer to releasing its drug that could slow the aging process for some big dogs, like Great Danes and Labradors.

Loyal said the drug helps lower the levels of a growth hormone, IGF-1, and could help the dogs live a longer, healthier life.

As Sean Previl reports, there are still steps to take but it could mean a longer time people could spend with their furry friends.
