French ambassador to Niger returns to Paris after standoff

France's ambassador to Niger has left the capital Niamey after a month-long standoff.
Niger's military government ordered Sylvain Itte to leave the country in August, but Paris had refused to recall the diplomat, saying it did not recognise the government's legitimacy.
