Political activist Bill Browder is at the EU Parliament to appeal for tougher sanctions on Russia, and to push for more support for political prisoners there. He told DW correspondent Sonia Phalnikar that despite Russian claims, sanctions have been "devastating" to the country's economy, and they must be implemented more comprehensively to further turn up the pressure.
Bill Browder was formerly a major investor in Russia, but was later banned from the country for his activism. He now leads the Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign, which seeks to impose targeted visa bans and asset freezes against those responsible for human rights abuse and corruption.
