A year after the so-called “Freedom Convoy” rolled into the capital and shut down Ottawa’s downtown core for almost a month; protests marking the one-year anniversary of that event were smaller and much more subdued.
Public health restrictions may be gone but the anger against the Trudeau government is not and those divisions were again on display in Ottawa.
However, hundreds of protesters arrived at the capital on Saturday to find Wellington Street closed to traffic, forcing them to walk to Parliament Hill. Instead of the sound of blaring horns, the area near Canada’s seat of government was filled with music as protesters gathered for a dance party.
