A historic rocket - that will blast satellites into space - has been launched from Spaceport Cornwall at Newquay Airport.

A modified Virgin Boeing 747 with a 21-metre rocket attached to its wing was launched from Newquay.

LauncherOne was successfully dropped from Cosmic Girl over the Atlantic but later suffered an 'anomaly'.

Virgin Orbit, the operator of tonight's launch, has said: "We appear to have an anomaly that has prevented us from reaching orbit."

In more positive news, Cosmic Girl successfully landed back here at Spaceport Cornwall.
