One child was killed and two seriously wounded in a shooting at a school outside Helsinki on Tuesday.

Police said the suspect had been arrested and that two children have been taken to a hospital in the country's capital and were in serious condition.

Police also said the suspect was a 12-year-old fellow student and that there were no other suspects. According to authorities, the victims were also all 12-year-old Finnish students at the school, but provided no further details of the identity of the suspect or victims.

"It was quite wild, this doesn't happen in Finland," said Sanna Ytterström, the mother of a student who was at the school when the shooting happened.
