The International Court of Justice has demanded that Israel do all it can to prevent acts of genocide in its war against Hamas in Gaza, but stopped short of ordering a ceasefire.

Judges in the Hague are considering a case brought by South Africa, which alleges that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians.

Israel had hoped to get the case thrown out - but the court decided it will go ahead, although it could take years before there is a final ruling.
