1. Canada should use federal powers to ease the growing economic disruption caused by the blockage of a vital U.S.-Canada trade route by protesters opposed to coronavirus mandates, U.S. President Joe Biden's administration said.

2. French President Emmanuel Macron refused a Kremlin request that he take a Russian COVID-19 test when he arrived to see President Vladimir Putin this week, to prevent Russia getting hold of Macron's DNA, two sources in Macron's entourage told Reuters.

3. A U.S. congressional committee is investigating former President Donald Trump's handling of White House records after 15 boxes of documents were transferred from his Florida resort to a federal agency, including whether the material included classified information, the panel's chairwoman said.

4. A Minnesota judge approved the "no-knock" raid that killed Amir Locke in Minneapolis last week, believing it was needed to protect the investigating officers and the public, court documents released show.

5. France will deploy thousands of police in and around Paris and over the weekend and set up checkpoints at toll stations on major roads leading into the capital to keep 'Freedom Convoy' motorists out, the city's police force said.
