More than three billion people now use the platform - over a third of the world's population - and many users struggle to remember a time they weren't scrolling through its news feed.

But Facebook's history has also been marred by controversy - from the Cambridge Analytica scandal and claims of election interference, to the issue of safeguarding children online.
