Facebook and Instagram to label all images on their platforms created by AI, Meta says

Meta has announced that it will start to label AI-generated images on Facebook, Instagram and Threads in the coming months.

The tech giant said it is building "industry-leading tools" that will allow it to identify invisible markers on images created using AI which have come from sites such as Google, OpenAI, Microsoft or Adobe.

AI images have proven controversial in recent months - with many of them so realistic users are often unable to tell they are not real.
