At least 14 people were injured on Monday when an explosion occurred at an Ohio metals plant that produces copper, brass and bronze alloys.

It's not yet known what caused the explosion, but it scattered molten metal and debris on buildings neighbouring the I. Schumann & Co. plant in Bedford, Ohio. Some structures of nearby businesses could be seen damaged, with rocks seen buried in cars and in the ground.

"You just hear a boom and then, you know what, a bigger boom," Joey, who heard the explosion, told reporters. "I look over and I just see a plume of smoke and then the bigger explosion and then the wall of flame."

At least one person was reported in critical condition, and another of the injured had been pulled from debris. According to officials, all those injured were on site, with no one in the neighbouring businesses having been injured.
