Ex-Obama assistant plays down ex-president's influence on Biden's decision

A former specialist assistant to Barack Obama has played down the former president's influence over Joe Biden's decision to step down, saying it was already "irreversible".

Mr Obama reportedly told allies that the president - who was his vice president from 2009 to 2017 - should reconsider his re-election bid, though he made no public comments.
