EWS यानी आर्थिक आधार पर सामान्य वर्ग को मिलने वाले 10 फीसदी आरक्षण पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ये अहम फैसला सुनाया है. सबसे पहले जस्टिस माहेश्वरी ने फैसला सुनाया है. उन्होंने कहा कि ईडब्ल्यूएस के लिए आरक्षण 50% की अधिकतम सीमा के कारण बुनियादी ढांचे का उल्लंघन नहीं करता है क्योंकि अधिकतम सीमा लचीली है. 103वें संविधान संशोधन को आर्थिक मानदंडों पर आरक्षण देकर बुनियादी ढांचे का उल्लंघन नहीं कहा जा सकता है.

The Supreme Court has given this important decision on EWS i.e. 10 percent reservation to the general category on economic basis. First of all, Justice Maheshwari has given the verdict. He said the reservation for EWS does not violate the basic limit of 50% as the ceiling is flexible. The 103rd Constitutional Amendment cannot be called a violation of basic infrastructure by giving reservation on economic parameters.
