"Everything got worse:" Afghanistan press freedoms restricted under Taliban rule

As the Taliban tightens its grip over Afghanistan, new "religious guidelines" were issued this week that further restrict the role of women there.

Broadcasters have been told to stop airing dramas and soap operas that feature women and female television reporters have to wear a hijab. The new rules come as the regime continues to crack down on the country's journalists and press freedoms, sometimes with deadly force.

Jeff Semple looks at how women Afghan journalists in particular are vulnerable, and what the situation means for journalists left in the country.
