The European Union has added the political leader of Hamas in Gaza to its terrorist list. Yahya Sinwar is accused of overseeing the October 7 attacks on Israel. Any assets that he holds within the EU will now be frozen, and EU citizens are barred from conducting financial transactions with him. Sinwar has been on the US "most wanted" list since 2015. Hamas is classified as a terrorist organization by Germany, the European Union, the US and others.
